Visiting in the United States

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you that have welcomed us into your homes over the last month. Presently we have reported to six different congregations in three different locations. Everyone is happy to see us and everyone shows interest in the work in Madagascar.

Because of the short time that Stacy and Havilah had in the United States we were forced to pass through lower Michigan, Ohio, and parts of Pennsylvania without reporting to some congregations. We were able to see Stacy’s family because we did pass by some of your congregations. Now that Stacy and Havilah have returned to Madagascar I am working hard on finishing the schedule for all of our monthly supporting churches. Please take a look at the following section named “Furlough Update” to find out when I will be coming to your congregation.

We are sorry that the Rosie’s cannot be together as a family this furlough, or at least three of us (Kit will be in university soon). We realize that many of you benefit from talking with Stacy and that you enjoy her writing about the work that we do in Madagascar. Please do not feel like we do not appreciate all that you have done in the past and all that you continue to do for His Work in Madagascar. Your interest in the Malagasy people, His church and the Betikara Orphanage has helped us through the years. We continue to covet your prayers for Madagascar and our family as we are separated for the next four months.

Furlough Update

Please take a close look at the following schedule. I have already contacted some of these congregations. I hope to be able to contact others in the near future. However, it would be helpful to me if you would take the time to write a quick e-mail to barryjrosie@yahoo.com so that I can know if the date I have written below is acceptable with your congregations.             A trip to Abilene is now included in Barry’s schedule. Due to the changes that have come about Barry will leave Abilene, Texas and head north passing through Parsons, Kansas as he goes further north. This schedule will mean going north to report to congregations that we did not have time for in the month of August. This means passing through parts of Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia for a second time. Barry then plans a trip back to Faulkner University to check on Kit before he travels to Florida to continue reporting to River Road Church of Christ in New Port Richey, Bay Area Church of Christ in Mango, and North Brevard Church of Christ in Titusville.

At this point, Barry might spend Christmas with Kit and his family before returning to Madagascar. If this is the case, our vehicle will be left in Florida with Barry’s parents instead of being returned to Michigan where the Rosie family started their journey to visit family, churches, and Christian friends. Please pray without ceasing for the Rosie family as we journey our separate ways in the coming months.

Did You Know . . .

. . . that the Rosie family is now, once again on two different continents? Stacy and Havilah left Washington, Dulles International Airport on Monday, August 13, 2007 to return to Madagascar. Stacy will start back to work at the American School of Antananarivo on August 20th and Havilah will start classes on August 22nd. Kit and I will remain together until I take Kit to Faulkner University on September 3, 2007 when he will begin his Freshman year of studies at Faulkner University.

Miniature Missionaries

Our miniature missionaries are separated by opposing sides of the earth and they are now holding opposing views about the future that awaits them. Havilah for the most part has itched to get back to school almost from the day that she left school on June 8, 2007. Kit, on the other hand, keeps stating that he does not know if he is ready for university life. Kit of course is going through many more changes in his life than his sister Havilah. Kit is leaving his home, where as Havilah is returning home. Kit is going to a place where he has no friends, where as Havilah is returning to her friends from the last school year. Please pray for all four of us as we try to adjust to the many changes and feelings that are affecting our lives these days. Pray especially for Kit so that he can adjust to university life and be able to finish his university education.

this and that

New Stateside Phone Number

We are continuing to contact churches and set up appointments for Barry to speak at various congregations around the country. Presently we are confirmed with congregations through September 9, 2007. We will be contacting other congregations in the coming days and weeks to set up a schedule for reporting on the Madagascar work. Please be patient with us throughout this process. What We can tell you now is that if your congregation is supporting the Rosie family on a monthly basis Barry will be coming to see you before the end of 2007.

Several congregations, upon being contacted, asked for a phone number that we can be reached at while in the United States. Upon contacting congregations to set up a time for reporting to their respective congregations I was asked if I had a phone number that they could call after talking with the men of their congregations. I was using Skype via the Internet and could not provide a phone number in the past. However, just this week we were blessed by receiving a TracFone from a church member in Richmond, Virginia. Here is a number you can call to reach Barry.

Please Note

Since Stacy and Havilah have returned to Madagascar it is VERY IMPORTANT that you use two different e-mail addresses starting today until the end of Barry’s stay in the United States. Stacy has returned to Madagascar and will be receiving e-mails at our regular e-mail address of brosie@freenet.mg . However, Barry will be receiving e-mail at a Yahoo address. Barry’s temporary address while in the United States will be barryjrosie@yahoo.com .

If you continue to try and write to Barry using the Freenet address he may not receive your messages. All brosie@freenet.mg messages will be downloaded into the computer that we use in Madagascar. Therefore, Barry will not be able to access these messages unless they are forwarded to him by Stacy.

Ambohimarina Congregation

We recently received two e-mail messages from Madagascar. Both messages state that the church at Ambohimarina is still a viable congregation. John Ratovohery states that they are going to the orphanage on a regular basis and that the congregation of the Lord’s body continues to worship each Sunday. John also stated, however, that there is a person that is starting to cause problems for the Betikara Lambs and the church as a whole.

We ask you to pray that this person will not be a bad influence on the congregation. Please also pray that the faithful men of the congregation will be able to teach this person about what God wants for his life so that he can start being a good influence on the congregation and the surrounding community.

Some of the members of the Ambohimarina congregation will not have a means of transportation each week to worship. Pray that they can worship in their homes and remain strong in their faith.

What can you do?

You can pray!

¨       Pray for the Rosie family as we are separated during this time of furlough and reporting to our supporting congregations.

¨       Pray for Kit as he enters university. There are so many things that Kit has never experienced in the United States. In some ways Kit will be culturally inept. In other ways Kit will be culturally enriched. Please pray that Kit can understand all of the changes and feelings that he will be having in the next months.

¨       Pray for the Malagasy Christians in Madagascar. Pray that they can remain strong and tell others about their faith in our Savior. Pray that they can grow spiritually during this time of separation from us.
